On Tuesday night, “Hamilton” star Michaela Watkins performed at the Tampa Convention Center, the first time she’s performed there since March 2015.
The concert, which was streamed live on social media, attracted hundreds of fans.
The Tampa Bay Times reports that attendees were allowed to bring their own food and drinks, and the arena was filled with balloons and other paraphernalia.
“It was awesome,” said Michaela’s mother, Lisa Watkins.
“It was a great time.
We had a great crowd, and it was an awesome show.”
She added, “We’re all happy that we were able to do this.”
The Times reports Michaela and her husband, Tom, have been attending shows in their hometown of New York for several years.
She has a large fan base of about 100,000 people in the state of New Jersey, where she lives.
Michaela’s family has been working to secure a seat at the show.
They were able on Tuesday to secure tickets to the concert in their home state, which has a $100 minimum attendance requirement.
Tampa Bay is the second-largest city in the United States, with about 17,500 people, according to the United Nations.
It’s also home to the largest military base in the world, and about 2,200 people are employed at the base.
